5 Days of Thanks: Dairy Exhibitors
After another successful North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE), we want to thank all of our exhibitors who make NAILE great. The show wouldn’t be anything without you, your family and your animals. On the first day of our five days of thanks, we want to start with the dairy exhibitors. Here are a few of the faces from this year’s expo.
First Time Exhibitor Wins Banner
Connor Savage of Fredrick, Maryland, is a first time exhibitor at the North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) in Louisville, Kentucky, and took home the winning banner for the Grand Champion National Holstein Junior Female. His parents, Chip and Isha Savage have a dairy farm and have exposed Connor to the industry. Connor has shown dairy cattle for around eight years.
Dairy Shows Are Serious Business
Carter Major, 10, from Lebanon, Tennessee exhibits his Holstein Dairy Cow at the 2017 North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) where he won his class of milking senior yearlings. Carter and his family own and operate Major Dairy Farm.
Dairy Farming Since Birth
Lexi Scott, 5, of West Union, Ohio hands out awards at the 2017 North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) in Louisville, Kentucky. Lexi may only be five, but has a lot of experience at dairy shows already. In fact, a premature baby at birth who spent 31 days in the NICU, came to her first NAILE just two days after being released from the hospital. Lexi’s parents, Samantha and Jim own and operate their dairy farm, Rising Star Dairy, for nine years. Samantha, Lexi’s mom, was also heavily involved in the dairy industry growing up and showed with her parents, Dave and Cindy of Chillicothe, Ohio of Tres Colles Farm. Lexi is serving as the Ohio Milking Shorthorn Princess.
Fun at the Dairy Show
Rachel Busker, 11, of Rideott, Illinois is a first year exhibitor at the 2017 North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) in Louisville, Kentucky. Busker who lives on her family dairy farm, showed the Holstein cow that was by Eric Topp of Ohi
Smiling With A Winner
Grace Sowder from Tremont, Illinois spent her weekend at the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky. She exhibited and won the All American Junior Jersey Intermediate Champion Female. The 13 year old and has shown Jersey dairy cattle for about four years. She says that being able to win a show like this is, “super cool and really exciting.” Grace lives on River Valley Dairy Farm with her parents, Gregg and Cindy Sowder.
